The global edition of the Wings for Life World Run took place on May 10, 2026 – a unique race without a classic finish line, in which participants run until they are overtaken by the virtual catcher car. 100% of the registration fees and donations go towards spinal cord research, which is why this project is particularly important to us as a sponsor.

In 2026, Maier zum Kirschner will continue to be committed to helping children in difficult life situations. As an official consolation donor, we continue to support the association “Little Patients in Not e.V.” and help ensure that its important work can continue.

When children are involved in an accident, they often find themselves in exceptional situations: fear, uncertainty and separation from familiar caregivers characterize these moments. The usual sense of security is often missing, especially in the ambulance or emergency room. This is exactly where the association “Kleine Patients in Not e.V.” to. Its goal is to provide sensitive support to children in emergency situations and to provide child-friendly initial care.

With initiatives such as “Donate Consolation” and the popular “Benny 🧸 – The Trösterbär®”, the association supports emergency services and clinics throughout Germany. This gives children a bit of security and emotional support in stressful situations.

The numbers illustrate the importance of this work: Every year around 1.8 million children in Germany are affected by accidents – statistically speaking, one child needs medical help every 18 seconds. In such moments, it’s not just quick care that counts, but also human closeness and understanding.

In addition to acute help, the association is also heavily involved in prevention work. Through education and information, accidents are to be avoided and awareness of child safety can be increased.
With our donation we would like to help ensure that these valuable projects can be continued and expanded. Because we are convinced that when companies and non-profit organizations work together, real help is achieved for the most vulnerable in our society.

Together for a good cause:

The Hotel Maier zum Kirschner supports the Wings for Life World Run in Rottach-Egern

On May 4, 2025, the time had come again: The Wings for Life World Run stopped in Rottach-Egern and transformed the lakeside promenade on Rottach Bay into a meeting place for sport, community, and solidarity. On that day, 310,719 runners worldwide took part and collectively raised €8.6 million for spinal cord research – an impressive sign of how much can be achieved through solidarity and commitment.

The enthusiasm was palpable in Rottach-Egern, too: Over 2,500 kilometers were run, contributing to further advancing research into a cure for spinal cord injury. An event like this thrives on the support of many – and the Hotel Maier zum Kirschner was a very special partner this year.

Strong Local Partnership
As a traditional, family-run hotel in the heart of Rottach-Egern, the Hotel Maier zum Kirschner is firmly rooted in the region. For the team, it was a given to actively support the Wings for Life World Run: With e-bikes for the organization, financial assistance, and spontaneous support with catering for participants after the run, the hotel demonstrated how valuable local commitment is for the success of an international charity event.

The hotel’s close proximity to the event location made it not only the ideal partner for logistical implementation, but also a meeting place for runners and volunteers. The spacious rooms, the friendly team, and the culinary diversity of the Kirschner Stuben ensured that everyone involved felt well looked after before, during, and after the run.

Raising awareness for an important issue

Every year, Maier zum Kirschner is dedicated to helping children in need. In 2025, we proudly continue our partnership with “Kleine Patienten in Not e.V.” as an official comfort sponsor, supporting their vital mission.

When children experience accidents, they are often frightened and vulnerable-sometimes without immediate comfort from loved ones. In ambulances or emergency rooms, young patients are confronted with unfamiliar and overwhelming situations. The organization “Little Patients in Need e.V.” is devoted to supporting children during emergencies, ensuring child-friendly first aid and care. Through initiatives like “Spreading Comfort” and the beloved “Benny the Comfort Bear®,” emergency services and hospitals across Germany are equipped to offer children a sense of security in difficult moments.

Statistics reveal that approximately 1.8 million children in Germany are affected by accidents each year-meaning every 18 seconds, a child requires medical attention. In these critical moments, swift and compassionate support is essential. The organization not only focuses on immediate care but also works on prevention and education to help reduce the number of accidents.

The tradition of hunting on Lake Tegernsee goes back a long way, and today hunters play a crucial role in maintaining the natural balance and biodiversity. Franz Maier, restaurateur, hotelier and passionate hunter, combines his love of hunting with his passion for good food. In his restaurant “Kirschner Stuben” in the family-run Hotel Maier zum Kirschner, game from his own hunt is served on the table, which stands for freshness, sustainability and regionality.

The hunting tradition is deeply rooted in Franz Maier’s family, and it not only enriches the cuisine of his restaurant, but also contributes to maintaining the natural balance. After being killed, the game is immediately broken up, cooled and allowed to hang out in the game room in order to preserve its quality.

A boat trip on Lake Tegernsee also provides charming views. The mountains and the lake invite you to participate in numerous adventures throughout the year: Magnificent tours by bike or mountain bike, fun in and out of the water with swimming, sailing or at a fun slide party through the curves of the enormous slide at Rottach’s heated pool. In the winter, a high-speed ride on Germany’s longest natural toboggan run down the Wallberg is great fun for young and old. Afterwards, you can enjoy a stroll through the beautiful Rottach Christmas Market right in front of the estate, where the lights of the stalls are reflected in the dark waters of Lake Tegernsee.
